What we believe
That a journal is one of the few digital spaces left that isn't trying to optimize you. No streaks. No engagement metrics. No notifications begging you to come back. The only reason to open Lite Journal is because you have something to say.
That privacy is a feature, not a marketing line. Your entries are encrypted in transit and at rest. Database-level row security ensures even our own queries can't read across users. We don't train models on your writing, sell it, or share it with anyone — including ourselves.
Why we built it
One of us had been keeping a journal for ten years across four different apps and a paper notebook. Each migration lost something — formatting, tags, the small ritual of opening the right thing. The other had been tracking films and concerts in three different apps, none of which talked to the journal.
Lite Journal is the app we wished existed: one timeline for everything that shapes a life, with the courtesy to leave you alone.
How we work
Quietly. We ship when something is ready, not on a marketing calendar. We answer email at hi@litejournal.co. We don't have a Twitter strategy. We have a changelog, which is the only update channel we promise to keep current.
We are based across two time zones, work asynchronously, and take August off. The roadmap is shaped by what users tell us — but we're picky about what we add. The fastest way to slow a journal down is to put more things in it.
